Often customers call with concerns about how their printer is
working. The purpose of this page is to help to identify the source of trouble and to avoid creating the need for a service
call.
- DO - Toner cartridges exhibit a variety of signs on the
printed page when they are near the empty stage. Try a different one to see if the printout is exactly the same
- DO - Some printers show an error message on their built-in display panel when
trouble occurs. Check the users manual for the meaning or call the number on this website for help.
- DON'T - When toner appears in the paper path area of your printer, DO NOT
use compressed air or a regular vacuum cleaner to remove it. Toner is very fine and can damage the printer
or the vacuum that does not have a hepa filter.
- DO - Always have a spare or back-up toner cartridge on hand and call for a
replacement as soon as it is installed. This avoids a panic call when you are in the middle of an important print job.
- DON'T - When the printout begins to get light in density, do not
shake the cartridge, rock it forward and backward. You may get some additional use from it before you install your spare.
- DO - Use remanufactured toner cartridges that are certified by the Canadian
General Standards Board. These cartridges are pre-tested before packaging and delivery in the actual printer type where they
will be installed.
- DON'T - Operate your printer beyond the recommended maintenance schedule as
outlined by the manufacturer. You can prevent a breakdown by keeping your machine in top condition. Call the number on
this website if you can't locate the maintenace schedule information.
